Getting around. Taormina town centre can be explored by foot. A funicular runs between the center and Massaro bay. An inexpensive rail network links Sicilys larger towns, including Palermo, Messina, Catania, Taormina, and Syracuse. Buses run throughout the towns and many of the smaller villages. A car is recommended for exploring the less touristy areas.
