Location. The Hotel Budir is located in the Budir lava field, Iceland, on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula close to glaciers, mountains, and its own private golden sandy beach. It is 25 kilometres from the nearest town Olafsvik, 215 kilometres from Reykjavik, and 250 kilometres from Keflavik Airport.
Hotel Features. A boutique hotel, the Budir was rebuilt in 2003 in whitewashed wood. The lobby has a fireplace and 24 hour front desk, and there are complimentary Internet connections. On site parking is also complimentary.
The restaurant at Hotel Budir specialises in dishes featuring seasonal local produce and catch, such as Cod with Barley and Pepper Sauce and Monkfish with Green Curry, accompanied by a wide range of wines. The lobby bar offers a selection of whiskeys and grappa unique to Budir. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily.
There are meeting rooms at Budir hosting up to 90 with audio visual presentation equipment, and a business centre offers basic services.
The spectacular surroundings of Hotel Budir are ideal for hiking, and trips to glaciers, and whale watching and bird watching are organised by the hotel. There is an on site marina, and sailing and boating are available, while the nine hole Gardavollur, under the Glacier Golf Course, is at nearby Langaholt.

Bathrooms provide complimentary toiletries, hair dryers, bathrobes, and slippers.
Expert Tip. There is a snowmobile rental outfit in neighbouring Arnarstapi which organises two hourly trips to the top of the Snaefell Glacier, with spectacular views of the peninsula. Arnarstapi also offers daytrips by sea around the islands of Breidafjordur.

From Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport (KEF):
Distance to Hotel Budir is 250 kilometres, approximately 180 minutes drive.
Getting there. The hotel recommends car rental and driving from the airport. A taxi direct costs around 36,000 ISK, price subject to change.
Getting around. A car is recommended for exploring the surrounding area.
Driving directions. From Keflavik Airport, where you should remember to take a map from the car rental firm, head for Reykjavik and then take road 1 towards Borgarnes and Akureyri.
A toll of 900 ISK is charged for the tunnel under Hvalfjordur.
On reaching Borgarnes, drive through it and take a left at the roundabout towards Olafsvik.
After 90 minutes drive along the peninsula, turn left just before the mountain to Olafsvik towards Arnarstapi and Hellnar.
After about one kilometre, turn left to reach Hotel Budir.
