In 1934, a dedicated group of Sierra Club volunteers built Clair Tappaan Lodge. The Lodge is located 25 miles from Lake Tahoe in the Central Sierra Nevada and is situated on a forested hillside near historic Donner Pass. Its proximity to premier areas for winter skiing and summer hiking and climbing make it the perfect getaway retreat. Today the time honoured Lodge is still thriving. The moment you step through the massive doors into the comfortable interior, it is evident that the lodge retains all of its original rustic charm. The Lodge boasts a cheerful dining room, a large living room with a huge fireplace, a cozy library with a wood burning stove, a recreation room, and a hot tub. Sleeping accommodations include separate dormitories for men and women, small rooms for couples, and larger rooms for families. Guests must bring their own sleeping bags or bedding. The bathrooms are shared.

Clair Tappaan is located at 7000 feet in Californias Sierra Nevada. Its 45 minutes west of Reno and one and a half hours drive east of Sacramento just off of Interstate 80. The address is 19940 Donner Pass Road in Norden. From eastbound I 80, take the exit for Soda Springs/Norden old U.S. 40 and go 2.4 miles east on Donner Pass road. The lodge is at 19940 Donner Pass Rd. old U.S. 40 . Look for our sign slightly up the hill on your left and the wide footpath leading up to the Lodge. Parking is available on either side of the road.
