Location. The Meridian Club is located in the Caribbean on the secluded, 800 acre Pine Cay island, part of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Pine Cay features a variety of foliage, including ancient mahogany trees, branching cactus and different species of native orchids. The crystal clear waters of the island offer miles of undisturbed barrier reefs and coral gardens. Drop offs and tidal flats are often within a few hundred yards of each other.
Features. This private resort is nestled among the dunes, sea oats and sea grapes on the talcum powder sands of Pine Cay, situated along a two mile stretch of beach. Soothing trade winds regulate the temperature and humidity on the island. The two story clubhouse features a restaurant, bar and guest lounge overlooking the broad swimming pool and sapphire waters of the Caribbean. Complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily. An outdoor dining area on the clubhouse terrace faces the beach with its thatched tiki huts and lounge chairs. Flowering hibiscus, tropical plants and a Mahoe tree fill the colorful tropical garden that surrounds the path leading to the guestrooms and private cottage. Activities at the resort include biking, sailing, shelling, snorkeling and tennis. The resort staff is always willing to assist in setting up bone fishing, reef and deep sea fishing trips or excursions to nearby Turks & Caicos Islands. Pets are not allowed at the property.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Meridian Club offer private bathrooms with showers, are decorated with a tropical theme. Screened in porches furnished with tables and chairs overlook the powder white beaches and clear waters of the Caribbean. Bamboo walled showers are just beyond the porch. Bedrooms feature one or two beds. Ceiling fans create a mild trade wind breeze through the units. All accommodations offer a small library of books and a separate lounging alcove. The Sand Dollar Guest Cottage is a six sided, tiki hut style cottage sequestered from the other rooms beneath tall Casuarina pine trees.
Expert Tip. Pine Cay Island offers some of the most stunning diving and snorkeling available. With visibility often exceeding 100 feet, water temperatures consistently around 75 to 80 degrees, numerous underwater habitats and a variety of protected marine life, the opportunity for underwater photography is ideal.
