Location.The Hotel and Resort Villa Basilewsky is located one kilometre from the centre of the Tuscan village of Cutigliano, Italy. It is eight kilometres from the ski slopes of Abetone and 12 kilometres from the Doganaccia cableway.
Hotel Features.Built at the end of the 19th century for the Russian princess, Olga Basilewsky, the villa is set within 17,000 square metres of wooded and open parklands, and combines aristocratic opulence with contemporary comforts. Amenities include a wellness centre with spa treatments, a fitness centre, sports grounds and a covered swimming pool open starting June 15. There are also complimentary airport transfers and a 24 hour front desk.
Villa Basilewskys restaurant offers a complimentary breakfast each morning and a menu which features Tuscanys finest produce. The restaurants rich decor of beamed ceilings, arched windows and terracotta floor tiles extends to a bar where paintings from the middle ages grace the walls. The hotel offers a half board room rate which includes breakfast and dinner.
This part of Tuscany is a popular destination for outdoor pursuits throughout the year. During winter months, the hotel offers a shuttle service to the ski resorts of Abetone and Doganaccia. At other times, guests can fish the streams of the villa or stroll through its grounds. Horse riding, hunting, hiking, mountain biking and parasailing can be arranged nearby.
Guestrooms.The 25 guestrooms are decorated in soft tones with dark wood furniture. All are equipped with climate control, direct dial telephones, satellite televisions and minibars with complimentary bottled water. There are also complimentary high speed Internet connections.
Expert Tip.The medieval village of San Marcello Pistoiese, has a number of sites worth a visit, including a suspension bridge which was constructed in 1922, the Ferrucci Museum, and an astronomical observatory.
