The Canadian Mountain Lodging Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is located in Golden, British Columbia, Canada, in the Canadian Rockies. National and provincial parks, including the Banff, Yoho, Kootenay and Jasper Parks, are east of the town. West of Golden, the Glacier National Park is predominantly covered by glaciers, and is known as the birthplace of mountaineering.
The Kicking Horse Mountain Resort features the longest vertical run in the Rockies, 70 inbound chutes and 2,750 acres of powder. The resort offers seven distinct dining establishments, ranging from restaurants, cafes and pubs to a sushi bar and a mid mountain Yurt, a modern adaptation of the ancient shelter used by Central Asian nomads for centuries. The Eagles Eye, located at the top of the mountain and accessible by gondola, boasts cuisine influenced by classic French techniques, featuring salmon, buffalo, venison and other native fare. The Local Hero Pub & Restaurant is a rustic Scottish mountain pub offering a selection of malt whiskies, beer and wine, and pub fare. Skiing and snowboarding on more than 100 runs varying in difficulty from beginner to expert are available all year long because of the year round snow. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, telemark skiing, heli skiing, guided snowmobile tours and ice climbing are all offered on the mountain. Pets are not allowed at the property.
Select accommodations at the resort offer ski in/ski out access. The Whispering Pines town homes feature three bedrooms, full kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms with fireplaces. Private decks with hot tubs overlook the mountains. Single or double stall garages are provided. The Selkirk Resort Homes offer three bedroom, two or three bathroom accommodations with a rustic architectural theme reflected in the exposed wood square posts, wood siding, stone accents and vaulted ceilings. The homes feature attached garages. The Purcell Woods cabin boasts two bedrooms, a loft, full kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom and laundry room.
