A XVII CENTURY BUILDING THAT BY ITS HISTORY WAS HOUSE OFTHE COLEGIATA OF SAN MIGUEL DE AMPUDIA . WITH ITS STATELYPORCH ENTRANCE IT CAN BE FOUND ENCLAVE IN THE MAIN SQUARE.IT IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE MOST EMBLEMATIC BUILDINGS OF THEVILLAGE. ORIGINALLY IT CONSTITUTED THE RESIDENCE OF THEABBOT OF THE COLEGIATA OF SAN MIGUEL DE AMPUDIA. IT WASLATER ACQUIRED BY DON DIEGO GARCIA DE TOVAR NOTARY OFMADRID AND LATER OF AMPUDIA AND BROTHER OF THE CHANTRE OFTHE COLEGIATA DON FRANCISCO GARCIA DE TOVAR. AT THE END OFTHE XVIII CENTURY IT WAS PASSED ON TO HIS DESCENDENTS FROMGENERATION TO GENERATION TO ITS PRESENT OWNERS THE GARCIAPUERTAS BROTHERS WHOSE FATHER D. JESUS GARCIA SIMON DURINGMANY YEARS IMPEDED ITS DETERIORATION BY MAINTAINING IT IN ANACCEPTABLE STATE OF CONSERVATION. IT IS A TWO STORY BUILDINGWITH ITS FACADE AND PRINCIPLE ENTRANCE ON THE MAIN PLAZA.VARIOUS PATIOS AND OUTHOUSES ALLOW FURTHER ACCESS THROUGH ASECONDARY STREET. THE MATERIALS USED IN ITS CONSTRUCTION EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN MODIFICATIONS OVER THE YEARS ARE TYPICAL OF THE REGION. STONES IN THE SOCLES AND PORCHENTRANCE. LARGE ADOBE WALLS THE ARCHES CORNICES TRELLISESAND LINTELS ARE MADE OF WOOD AND STUCK TOGETHER WITHINFERIOR PLASTER. THE WROUGHT IRON GRATINGS OF THE BALCONIESARE WELL AS THE LOTS OF THE INTERIOR DOORS OF THE HOUSE AREORIGINAL FROM THE XVII CENTURY. THE INTERIOR MAINTAINS ITSSPLENDOR FULL OF ANTIQUITIES. THE MOST SPECTACULAR BEINGTHE 6 METER HIGH VAULT AT THE ENTRANCE AND THE SMALL CHAPELWHERE THE ABBOT FULFILLED HIS RELIGIOUS OFFICES. THEORIGINAL ALTAR IS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS ARE THE STATUESAND OTHER RELIGIOUS PARAPHERNALIA.
