Amid hills, lakes and flood plains and situated deep within Chitwan National Park, the Maruni Sanctuary Lodge in Sauraha, Nepal, offers guests an interactive wildlife experience. Located between two villages of the Rana Tharu community, the resort is 185 kilometers west of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
With the national parks fauna and flora at its doorstep, the Maruni Sanctuary Lodge is divided into 12 individual cottaqes. On site facilities include a modest reception area, conference and meeting rooms, a dining hall where complimentary breakfasts are served, and an open air bar. Gravel pathways festooned with bright yellow flowers connect the brown roofed buildings. The focus at this property is the native creatures and features of the neighboring park, and numerous activities are available to interested guests. Elephant safaris, bird watching, canoeing and jungle treks are among the guided tours offered for an additional fee.
