Situated in the town of Grand Bay on Mauritius north coast, the Veranda Hotel is a beachside property characterised by its Creole architectural style, palm trees and exotic flowers. Set in two storey buildings and bungalows, the 94 air conditioned guestrooms featuring light modern decor in warm tones with Creole style wood and cane furnishings, bamboo blinds and ceiling fans. Surrounded by tropical gardens, the hotels two large circular pools offer guests the chance to relax and soak up the sunshine. Kids will be kept entertained with their own mini club for children age 4 12 years; there is also a paddling pool. Furnished in Creole style, La Baie restaurant serves international dishes and Mauritian specialities from a buffet as well as � la carte and set menus. It also has a poolside terrace for al fresco dining. Guests can watch the sunset over Grand Bay and sip cocktails from the bar, and almost every evening there are live music performances. A range of water and land based activities are offered for free at the hotel. One hundred metres away, the beach offers complimentary water skiing, windsurfing, pedal boats, kayaks and snorkelling as well as glass bottomed boat trips and sailing. On land there is beach volleyball, floodlit tennis, French bowls, billiards, darts and table tennis. Additional activities offered (surcharge) include scuba diving, catamaran cruises, deep sea fishing and bicycle rentals. The hotel has a beauty and hair salon (surcharge) and a gift shop. There is a late departure room with showers and a conference room. Guests also have access to other hotels in the Veranda Group (Coin de mire, Paul et Virginie, Palmar Beach Resort and Marina and Club) and use of their facilities. The resort centre is just a 200 metre walk and there is a casino and golf course 10 kilometres away in Trou aux Biches. Mauritius International Airport (MRU) is 70 kilometres away, an approximate driving time of 75 minutes.
