Lying 2 kilometers to the east, the cosmopolitan town of Hersonissos is stuffed with bars, restaurants, shops and beachside tavernas, while slightly further afield culture vultures can roam the ancient Minoan palace of Malia and the region of Lassithi Plateau, famed for its white windmills.
