The Pantall Hotel was built in 1888 by Theo Pantall, hence the name, which is definitely part of the history of the hotel and Punxsutawney. Renovations began in 1970 under the current owners and the hotel is now completely rebuilt, with the first floor retaining as much history as possible. The Pantall is a beautiful building which still has the charm of a 19th century hotel. The hotels Coachlight Bar also dates back to the 19th century, and it has undergone a thorough restoration. It even has the original bar in it. The Pantall is situated by the town park, the sight of many functions year round. Just across the park is the groundhog zoo. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, which frequently draws compliments from its guests.
The guest rooms are all new and equipped with much nicer furnishing than youll find in most hotels. The rooms are not all the same, as there are six different color or print schemes for the drapes and bedding. The hotel is known for its cleanliness and attention to detail, where even the pillowcases and sheets have been ironed. It also has a restaurant, known for its great food, with special seasonal dishes. Punxsutawney is a special place, where the citizens all help one another, and they help their guests, as well.
