The Gran Hotel Colon Costa Ballena is a blue and white, nautically themed hotel that opened in 2001, located 400 metres from a white sand beach in central Costa Ballena, five kilometres from Rota. The hotels 200 guestrooms are simply decorated, with polished floors that lead through glass double doors to a ten square metre balcony. All rooms are equipped with televisions with pay movies, direct dial phones, clock radios, minibars and safes. Bathrooms include handheld showers, bidets and hair dryers.
The midday sun can be avoided in the hotels health club and spa, whereguests will find a sauna, gym, solarium, Turkish bath and treatment rooms offering a range of massages and therapies. Guests can explore the fishing village of Chipiona, four kilometres away, or a little further afield are the towns of Jerez, 25 kilometres away, and Cadiz, 40 kilometres away. The hotel is located 90 kilometres from Sevilla Airport, and 30 kilometres from Jerez de la Frontera/Cadiz Airport.
