Location. The Pestana Bazaruto Lodge is a full board resort located in the Bazaruto Archipelago on Bazaruto Island in Mozambique. Dolphin Bay is 1.5 kilometres away and the Sand Spit is five kilometres from the resort.
Hotel Features. The Pestana Bazaruto Lodge is situated in a bay on the north side of the island, in the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park. The resort comprises thatched bungalows set amid tropical gardens and features a private white sand beach. The resort offers an outdoor freeform pool with a childrens pool and a swim up bar, open during the summer months. The games room features a TV, a DVD library, table tennis and board games.
Buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner with wine, soft drinks, and coffee are complimentary, as they are included in the full board rate. Meals are served in the Flamingo restaurant, which offers a la carte and buffet dining. Every night, the restaurant announces dinner with African drums. The Sunset Bar opens onto a beach terrace and serves drinks until late in a Robinson Crusoe style setting.

The water sports centre offers diving, fishing, wake boarding and water skiing (surcharge). The resort offers a complimentary 30 minute water skiing lesson and a complimentary bodysurfing trip. Distance to Pestana Bazaruto Lodge is 700 kilometres, approximately six hours travelling time.
Getting there. There are five weekly flights from Maputo to Vilanculos, one daily from Johannesburg to Vilanculos and bi weekly flights from Nelspruit and Harare. From Vilanculos, daily transfers by 17 seater plane to Bazaruto Island coincide with most of the flights arriving from Maputo and South Africa. This 20 minute transfer must be booked in advance via LAM, Pelican Air and Transairways.
Getting around. The bus is about the best means of getting around Mozambique. Buses usually run between major towns once a day. There are three main private companies and each has express lines. Where the roads are well maintained transportation is good, however, there are many unpaved and poor roads, making travel difficult. The island of Bazaruto is only 35 kilometres in length and seven kilometres across at the widest point.
