Location. The historic Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian hotel is located on Princes Street, the major shopping street in the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle are within 450 metres of the hotel. The Royal Museum of Scotland is a mile away and Holyrood, the Scottish Parliament, is two miles away. Hotel Features. The grand, sandstone fronted Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian was built by the Caledonian Railway Company in 1903, during the Edwardian era. There are 13 meeting rooms for ten to 300 people.

The hotel has five restaurants and bars. The Pompadour serves Scottish and international dishes, such as carpaccio of Highland venison, and has views over Princes Street and the Castle from its semicircular windows. Chisolms Restaurant and Bar retains features of the former Caledonian Railway station. Champagne and strawberries are served here during sparkling hour every evening. Henry J Beans is an American themed restaurant and cocktail bar, and The Caley Bar offers more than 100 whiskies. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea in the Castle Suite Lounge.

In the LivingWell health club, there is an indoor pool and a jetted tub, steam room and sauna. There is also a fitness room, and in the Ocean Rooms Spa, Thalgo marine treatments include body wraps and massages.

Guestrooms. The 251 traditional style guestrooms feature contemporary furnishings in neutral colours, with tartan bedspreads. Some rooms overlook Edinburgh Castle or Princes Street Gardens.

Getting there. Airlink 100 operates express bus services to the city centre. Buses run every 10 minutes and depart from the bus station next to the terminal. An open return pass costs 5 GBP. The N22 night bus runs between midnight and 4 am. Taxis wait at a rank next to the terminal, and cost approximately 10 GBP 20 GBP to the city centre, depending on traffic and time of day. Waverley, Edinburghs main railway station, can be reached by bus or taxi. Regular trains leave Waverley for Glasgow and most major destinations throughout Scotland and England. Getting around. Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian hotel is on Princes Street. Edinburgh city and the Lothian region are served by a good bus network. There are hop on, hop off stops for city bus tours throughout central Edinburgh. Black cabs are available from the streets. The historic centres cobbled streets are best explored by foot. Driving is not recommended for visitors, due to the complicated one way systems, though there is a small car park at the hotel (surcharge).
