Expert Tip. Batu Caves is a limestone hill with three main caves and smaller ones. The largest, Temple Cave, is roughly 325 feet in height and houses elaborate Hindu shrines. Access requires walking up 272 steps at a steep incline. Dark Cave includes some animals seen nowhere else in the world, living among the caves stalactites and stalagmites. Dark Cave is not freely accessible, but scheduled educational and adventure trips are available. Rock climbing on the rugged limestone surface of the hill has become a popular attraction.
