Location. Tucked between an Arabian Sea beach and the Sal River, The Leela is in Cavelossim, India, on the countrys west coast in the state of Goa, a former Portuguese colony. The resort and business hotel is two kilometers from Mobor and Varka beaches.
Hotel features. A blend of southern Indian temple architecture and Portuguese influence, The Leela is a series of vivid pink buildings set among 75 acres of gardens and lagoons. The resort offers a freeform pool, badminton, tennis courts, a 12 hole miniature golf course and water sports from scuba diving to sailing. The Spa at The Leela provides Ayurvedic therapies and services. Shirodhara and warm stone massage are signature treatments. The spa also offers yoga classes, steam rooms, saunas and a gym. A 24 hour casino also is on site. Business amenities include a 24 hour business center and conference facilities that include the option of beachfront barbecues and theme nights. Four restaurants provide an international range of dining experiences, from local Goan dishes to Western, Asian and Italian cuisine, grilled meats and seafood specialties. Pets are not permitted.
Guestrooms. The resort provides 185 guestrooms and suites in two story buildings (no elevators). All offer a blend of contemporary d�cor and traditional Indian influence. Room settings and features vary, but all include balconies with louvered doors opening to balconies with lagoon or golf course views. Some include marble bathrooms. Others include parquetry floors with area rugs in bedrooms and sunken bath tubs. Amenities include wireless Internet access for a fee, plasma televisions and CD and DVD players. Rooms also offer minibars and refrigerators.
Expert Tip. Goa includes numerous historic churches, built during the 450 years it endured as a Portuguese colony. The city of Margoa, 17 kilometers from the resort, is noted for its Portuguese mansions, built during that era.
